Introduction to the Art of Thatching.

June 14, Saturday 10-1 pm.

Thatching is an ancient & modern roofing technique.  Learn about this artful roofing system, which is practical, waterproof,  beautiful, insulating & long lasting  ~ made with natural, locally harvested reed.   Wow. 

In this class you will:

• See a thatch demonstration & presentation on the basics of roof design & thatching principles.
• Learn about harvesting techniques and see tools of the trade. 
• Make a miniature reed mat to take home.
• Tour the Strawbale Studio, a thatched roof cottage-like building & other structures.
