I don't know anything about this school except that this email was sent to me by Jason Howard who writes:

A new sustainable school is in the works: The New Forest Institute School of Homesteading and Community... thought you might be interested.

Folks: I announced my retirement from Liberty School the other night at the Board Meeting. It's the 10th year and I'm ready to start my next chapter. I will be starting a new school--a 13th year which I call a "year of discernment."

I'm working with a group that have formed The New Forest Institute--a place dedicated to teaching about sustainable living. The school will be The New Forest Institute School of Homesteading and Community. It is for students who have finished high school but aren't certain they want to go to college and for older people who are in mainstream america and want to find a way out. This is homesteading for the 21st Century---self-sufficiency skills, permaculture, building solar shelters, community and group process skills to help people learn to live in cooperation.

If all goes well, it will begin in June. We hope to have 10-12 students who want this experience to decide whether or not to continue to live along side mainstream America rather than in it, or to go on to college or other endeavors with the skills, knowledge and consciousness they might not otherwise have.

If you know students who might be interested, let them get in touch with me. We're still in the beginning stages but will shortly have the brochure and applications ready.

If you know qualified people who might be interested in applying to be Director of Liberty School, have them contact me--a search committee will be forming shortly. We'd like someone who has experience with Project Based Learning and is committed to democratic education.

Onward!

Arnold
