       June 13 & 14, 2009

       Saturday 10a-5p, Sunday 10a-3p.

 

Learn the basics of strawbale construction and design in this workshop. 

  • Help construct a section of a Strawbale Wall 
  • Learn the basics of designing for strawbales (discussion on design: roofs foundations, solar design, plasters).
  • Observe how windows are framed in.
  • Learn hands-on, how to modify the size and "pin" the bales, identify earth, mix and apply earthen plasters..
  • Tour the natural buildings on site, including the thatched-roof Strawbale Studio.    
  • Gain more hands-on experience as we continue on Sunday. 
  • Bring food to share.  We will also share preparation and clean up. 
  • On-site Resources Library available with books & videos on strawbale construction & sustainable living. You may check out the resources, or enjoy a campfire in the evening and stay overnight if you wish. 

 

Cost: $50 to $100 as you are able. 

There is a monthly mortgage payment on this place, so money is very appreciated.  Some worktrade available if necessary.

Overnight. You can reserve a place to stay overnight if you wish, indoors or camping. No charge.
