Instructor, Deanne Bednar taught art at the middle school level for 28 years, and now does natural building and sustainable skills as well as illustration.
Location: The Strawbale Studio land, near Oxford, Michigan. Beautiful rural and wooded 50 acres with a number of small natural outbuildings on site. Call or email to to sign up and get directions.

Felting & Cording . Learn the basics of these ancient crafts made from local wood & fibers. You will make two small projects from local wool: a wool ball, and a flat piece of wool felt, suitable for a hot pad or several coasters. You will also learn to cord...make twine/string, using local plant fibers. Make a bracelet or length of cord. Take home everthing you make at the workshop. Friday 3 - 5:30 pm Families welcome. Want to have the confidence to prune your fruit trees THIS SEASON ?!
This timely workshop will prepare you to go back home and prune YOUR trees
while they are still dormant.
What better way to celebrate the First Day of Spring, than by being out on beautiful land, learning more about our relationship with plants?
This workshop lead by Rick McAvinchey ~ consulting forester / wildlife biologist ~ will teach the tools, techniques & principles of pruning. You will also have a chance to get some hands-on practice applying the tools and your new knowledge ~ to a real live apple tree in need of pruning ! Includes a packet of useful information.
Location: The Strawbale Studio land ~ beautiful wooded rural acres outside Oxford, Michigan (1 hr north of Detroit).
Presenter: Rick McAvinchey, is a local land management forester and does professional fruit tree pruning. He is available for hire to come to your property. (248-627 7109 email: landsteward@juno.com. (Of course, you will likely be excited go back with your new knowledge, and do the pruning yourself ! )
